Jadelle

Two-rod subdermal implant with protection for up to 5 continuous years.

1 What is the Jadelle Subdermal Implant?

It is an effective contraceptive that prevents pregnancy, is reversible, and offers comfort with a high degree of safety for up to (5) five continuous years.

2 How is it done?

Two thin, flexible rods are inserted containing LEVONORGESTREL 75 mg each, placed just under the skin of the arm. After the anesthetic effect wears off, you will probably experience some tenderness at the insertion site during the first few days. Some swelling, bruising, and/or discoloration may also appear, this is normal.

3 Observations

Keep the insertion area dry for 4 days to prevent infection. The protective gauze and sterile bandage can be removed after 4 days. Do not touch the rods to avoid pushing them in during the first 4 days. You can resume your daily activities immediately after insertion, however you should not lift heavy objects and should try to avoid hitting the insertion site during the first days.

4 Important

The implants are flexible and will not break inside the arm. They will remain where they have been placed and will not move. Avoid unprotected sexual intercourse for the first 72 hours after the implant is placed.
