1 What is the Subdermal Contraceptive Implanon?

It is an effective contraceptive that prevents pregnancy and offers protection for up to (3) three continuous years. It contains a substance called ETONOGESTREL 68 mg.

2 How is it done?

It is a quick and painless insertion. A thin, flexible 4 cm rod is inserted under the skin of the arm. It must be placed by a healthcare provider like IPS AMBULATORIAS DE COLOMBIA.

3 Recommendations

Keep the insertion area dry for 4 days to prevent infection. The protective gauze and sterile bandage can be removed after 4 days. Do not touch the arm and the rod to avoid pushing it in during the first 4 days. You can start your normal daily activities immediately after insertion, but you should not lift anything heavy and should avoid hitting the insertion site for 5 days.

4 Important

The implants are flexible and will not break inside the arm. They will remain where they have been placed and will not move. Avoid unprotected sexual intercourse for the first 72 hours after implant insertion.

5 Normal Side Effects

Absence of menstruation for a prolonged period, which is NORMAL. You may experience heavy and frequent bleeding, in this case it is normal, contact us for the corresponding instructions. It may cause headaches, dizziness, and anxiety, which disappear over time. All of this is completely normal, can be treated, and is not a reason for implant removal.
